Mapped the coordinates of one of the man-made lakes in the Highpoint Subdivision.  Helpers positioned on all sides of the lake acted as a "grid", so those in a boat could move around and plot the depth of the grid points on the map.  The results were given to the H.E. Park District.

Cleaned up around the fairly new and much smaller Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Schaumburg, removing trailer loads of garbage and construction debris.  Churchill School and HEHS were just being built.  Under some garbage Lyle found two rare weasels 1/2" long that he bottle fed and released to a forest preserve!

Made Hi-Q board games for a nursing home.  The boards were wooden with wooden pegs painted different colors.  (There was more to his project, but Frank said it was a long time ago and he can't remember now what it was.)  At 13, Frank was one of the youngest Eagle Scouts in the council!

Helped refurbish a halfway house in Lake Zurich.  It was a big, older house with 4-5 families.  Stripped and painted the outside, which took the entire summer, working about 3 days a week.  Dave was Troop 297's first Eagle Scout!

Bartlett; married, 4 children; retired from the Marine Corps in 1994 after 21 years; then went back to school and graduated from NIU; assistant principal for a middle school for the last 8 years

In 1968 Troop 194 in Schaumburg was so full it could not accept new scouts.  On May 31, 1968 the fathers of Dave H, Lyle M, David T, and Ken T left that troop and formed Troop 297, the first troop in the Northwest Suburban Council to not have a sponsor.  The troop met at MacArthur Elementary School in Hoffman Estates.  The first scoutmaster was the father of Dave H.
